Hi there !
First of all, thank you for putting all these effrots on building this great CMS. I was looking for something like this for a long time.
As I'm running my first set of experiments with Instant Update, I've setup a new installation on Windows 2012 r2, IIS 8.5, PHP 5.3.19 and MySQL 5.5.
I've successfully setup the site and connected to the Admin Panel. I've followed the Installation Documentation as provided here : http://my.instant-update.com/t/instant-update-installation/29
I end up with a clean install of IU.
I understand the basic concepts of how IU works and operates on the server level.
First of all, there is 2 buttons named "Create a page" aside to 2 buttons named "Edit Site Live" and "Edit Pages Live", respectively on the admin pages "Manage pages" and "Manage Files". This is confusing because both of this buttons lead to the same functionnalities : add a page (aka. A DB Stored Page or Dynamic Page based on a HTML Template File), and edit the site. This is even more confusing when you consider that you are on the "Edit Files" page.
That makes no sense, you should separate functionnalities by areas and never repeat functionnalities entry points even if it's a shortcut. If a shortcut is really usefull, then clearly identify it in the UI/UX as a shortcut or make it a "toolbar composed of shortcuts".
My error comes when I try to create a new page.
I understand that I have to first upload a template. (It would be great to have a default "Hello World" template used by a default "Hello World" Page, just to be able to check that it works.)
So, I go to "Manage Files", and there I'm not able to upload any HTML file anywhere else than in the folder ./iu-assets/ which sounds okay as I've given the writting permission to the user to this folder only (as provided in the installation documentation). On the UI/UX side, there shouldn't be a + (aka. Upload) sign to intent an upload on a folder I can't write into, this will simply lead to an error that could be avoided and therefore the function is just not available in this case.
So, once in this ./iu-assets/ folder, if I try to upload an HTML file, it works. I can also Duplicate the file.
Then I go to "Create New Page" and fill in the fields of the form, except the "Template file" list which is dead empty. As any HTML file should be able to act as a template, why this list isn't loading the HTML files which are present in IU's folders ? This is a mistery.
Maybe it's because there is no file entry in the database ?
If I click "Save" whitout selecting a template, the system will even allow me to process but then I will get 2 messages : one saying "Page successfully created" and one saying "Error page doesn't exist".
Given that state, could you please help me to pass this step ? Maybe there is a quickfix ?
